Before the VIO will be a guest at such diverse festivals as ‘Music Unlimited’, festival for improvised and experimental music, and ‘Wien Modern’, renowned worldwide for its presentation of contemporary music, the VIO is collaborating with Czech musicians on the occasion of the 130th birthday of the visionary Brno architect and urban planner Bohuslav Fuchs, in the Masaryk Student Residence building he designed.
Just released: the recording of the 45min. concert at the legendary Moers Festival (GER), acclaimed with minutes of standing ovations, ‘VIENNA IMPROVISERS ORCHESTRA live at moers festival 2022′ is now available on vinyl! – An instant composition, created exclusively and absolutely ad hoc with the consistent praxis of Instant Composition Conducting, which has been developed by VIO’s artistic dir. and conductor Michael Fischer, based on Butch Morris’ hand sign conducting method Conduction. The VIO was founded by Michael Fischer in 2004; it is one of the earliest and continuously working improvisation orchestras worldwide.
