The Wanderlust adventure started 5 years ago. Led by composer and vocalist Ellinoa, the orchestra has risen to be one of the new generation’s voices to be reckoned with. Halfway between a big band and a small symphonic orchestra, its atypical instrumentarium allows it to oscillate between explosive energy and sparkling grace.

Released in 2018, the group’s first eponymous album has attracted the favor of the press (Révélation Jazz Magazine, Elu Citizen Jazz, Sélection Le Monde, SACEM support, etc.) and allowed the band to tour throughout France the next year. The common thread of the compositions was a series of untranslatable words from different languages, with poetic and abstract evocations that Ellinoa musically ‘interpreted’, interspersed with lighter interludes.

The orchestra is currently developing a second repertoire, “Ville Totale”, the creation of which will take place in the autumn at l’Estran, in Guidel (Brittany). Influenced by contemporary music, prepared instruments and acoustic effects, and this time including lyrics and texts in French, it will feature an immersive sound system (real-time spatialized sound) built in collaboration with the sound engineer Terence Briand, in support of the music: a composition of movement. Thematically, the music takes you to a dystopic megalopolis, an ever-growing Leviathan that ends up collapsing and yielding to a resilient Nature.
