Award-winning singer Lucia Cadotsch and the internationally acclaimed saxophonist/composer Wanja Slavin have teamed up with some of the leading voices from the contemporary European jazz scene to form a large ensemble known as « LIUN + The Science Fiction Band – live orchestra. »

LIUN + The Science Fiction Band is a collaborative project by Lucia Cadotsch and Wanja Slavin. Their meticulous exploration of the interplay between musical genres seamlessly integrates analog and digital composition methods, resulting in an impressively layered sonic universe that transcends conventions and clichés. Notably unusual in the jazz context is the duo’s collaborative composition process. The band operates in a perpetual state of flux, sometimes reduced to a duo or expanded to a twenty-three-piece orchestra, providing the flexibility needed to bring their musical visions and ideas to life.

Their debut album, « Time Rewind, » earned praise from Kurt Rosenwinkel, who described it as an « Instant Classic » and signed them to his label Heartcore Records. The subsequent release, « Lily of the Nile, » represents a clever reversal of modern remix culture. In this work, they reinterpreted the digitally produced songs from their debut using acoustic instruments, illustrating how a vocal jazz ensemble can sound in today’s context.

Their highly anticipated third album, « SPEAK TO ME, » set to be released in September on Heartcore Records, will feature new songs arranged for a twenty-three-piece orchestra, further expanding their ensemble to include strings.
