‘Querer’ celebrates the very act of gathering and is OJM’s first album with the Argentine composer Guillermo Klein – one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary composition, both within and beyond jazz – following years of collaboration and shared creativity. The arrangements and compositions on the album reveal the originality of Klein’s musical language, with its deeply captivating atmospheres and influences ranging from traditional rhythms to 20th-century Argentine classical music. The album also features Klein’s arrangements of great pieces such as Ornette Coleman’s “Lonely Woman”, Carlo Mombelli’s “Athens”, Julio Santos Espinoza’s “Vidala Para Mi Sombra” and Joshua Redman’s “Balance”.
