The Pauline Leblond Double Quartet is a family of eight musicians who bridge the gap between jazz and baroque music. It’s a subtle blend of a jazz quartet and a string quartet, sometimes confronting each other, sometimes merging. For several years now, they have been playing original compositions, by trumpeter Pauline Leblond, together. Her vision and the contrasts in timbre that the band brings to the table are reminiscent of dreamlike, cinematic images.
Pauline Leblond had been lucky enough to be offered a Carte Blanche at the Brosella Festival in July 2021.
For this Carte Blanche, she has chosen to play with the Pauline Leblond Double Quartet and to add a brass section, and not just any brass section: Mathieu Najean and Timothé Lemaire. To this end, she has composed new repertoire.
