Urbex was founded by drummer Antoine Pierre, who writes all the compositions.
Urbex is the contraction of “Urban Exploration”, a discipline that consists in visiting fascinating abandoned buildings. The music of Urbex resonates with that atmosphere: lively yet deserted, chaotic yet structured.
Urbex performed more than 80 concerts since its creation in 2015 (a.o. Jazz Middelheim (BE), PBA (BE), Flagey (BE), Paradox (NL), Bimhuis (NL), Altes Pfandhaus (De), festival Soleils Bleus (Fr)…). The band released two albums on Igloo Records in 2016 and 2018, both critically acclaimed. The second album, “Sketches Of Nowhere”, ws granted the prestigious “CHOC Jazz magazine”, “Indispensable Jazz News”, “Must TSF Jazz” as well as the “Octave de la Musique 2019”.

The third album, “Suspended” was recorded live at legendary Flagey’s Studio 4 during Brussels Jazz Festival 2020 for which Antoine Pierre was the artist in residence.
“Suspended” in a repertoire originally written as a tribute to the electric period of Miles Davis, particularly to the album “Bitches Brew” for which 2020 marked the 50th anniversary.
Antoine Pierre got insipired by the energy and the vibe of that iconic record to compose the tracks of his latest opus.
